The process of synthesizing pheromones is very complex. They are produced in a laboratory through advanced, lengthy chemical processes. Producing 1 gram of androstenol or androstenone costs over $6,000. There are many products on the market, not just fakes, but also very weak products with low pheromone content. Most often, cheap products, while they may look nice and are elegantly packaged, contain NO pheromones at all, or the quantity is too low to notice any effects. It’s important to know that effective pheromones in a 5ml bottle should cost at least 20 EUR.

Aside from high-quality alcohol, which dissipates in less than a minute, pheromones don’t have a scent of their own (perceived within our scent tolerance range) [see: “Do pheromones have a scent?”].

A single chemical compound can be a pheromone for many animal species and fulfill various roles. For example, (Z)-7-Dodecen-1-yl acetate is a female pheromone for over 126 species of insects, as well as for the female elephant [26] . Semiochemicals secreted by female hamsters influence the menstrual cycle of rats [59] . Androstenol is a compound said to be a pheromone of pigs, but it also alters women’s mood and influences their sexual arousal [26] . Therefore, it is not necessarily a pheromone exclusive to a single animal species. It is a fact that substances such as androstenol, androsterone, androstadienone, and estratetraenol affect humans and change their behavior, as confirmed by numerous studies conducted in recent years. However, to date, none of the mentioned substances has been directly identified as a human pheromone. These are candidates aspiring to be human pheromones. However, this doesn’t change the fact that these pheromones work, as many people have discovered. Nowadays, it’s known that there likely isn’t a single universal pheromone for humans, but rather a mixture of many substances. Some of the above pheromones work better on one person, others on another. For this reason, products based on a mixture of multiple pheromones work best.
Many companies sell products containing negligible or no pheromones at all. And this is the fact that should be of the greatest concern.

Pheromone products are primarily alcohol-based. It evaporates within a minute and becomes completely undetectable. The secret to perceiving pheromones lies in the VNO , located in our noses. Thanks to this, the true effect is perceived subconsciously.
Pheromones, like any volatile chemical compound, have their own scent. Fresh secretions are odorless and are transformed into fragrant forms by microorganisms. However, this scent is only consciously perceived in very large doses. Pheromones work at very low concentrations, meaning they are effective in doses so low that they cannot be consciously detected with the traditional sense of smell.
Due to sexual dimorphism [11] , male pheromones are more noticeable to men, while female pheromones are more noticeable to women. In other words, pheromones that may be unpleasant to men may be attractive to women, and vice versa. The scent of pheromones is perceived differently by different people [76,90] . Some pheromones are always attractive to women, while others, such as androstenone, can be unpleasant, except during ovulation. Approximately 40%-50% of the population cannot detect the scent of pheromones [18] , so be careful, because if you belong to this group, it’s easy to use too much. The same pheromone can have negative or positive effects, depending on the amount used.
Some people claim they expected pheromones to smell wonderful, but after sniffing them straight from the bottle, they detect an unpleasant odor. It’s important to remember that pheromones aren’t supposed to smell, they’re supposed to work.
If you care about a beautiful scent, use pheromones with your favorite perfume. Pheromones used with perfume are practically undetectable. A good eau de toilette effectively masks any pheromone odor and enhances their effect.

Yes. Pheromones can, and in fact should, be used with your own perfume. This will not negatively impact their effectiveness. A good eau de toilette can significantly increase their effectiveness. Some products (e.g., Pheromax) can be mixed with eau de toilette, or you can use them simultaneously with your own perfume, applying the pheromones first, then the perfume.
When you use pheromones with perfume, the effect you have on others is doubled – the perfume affects the conscious mind, while the pheromones affect the unconscious mind (subliminal effect). Therefore, we always recommend using pheromones with a good perfume.

Pheromones last on the skin for 4 to 8 hours, depending on the product. Much depends on the individual’s skin environment. Expect shorter durations of action in summer than in winter due to higher ambient temperatures. To maximize longevity, apply the product, like perfume, to areas of the body that experience increased body temperature: elbows, décolleté, wrists, temples, behind the ears, etc.

Pheromones can be applied to both skin and clothing. Both forms are effective in their own way. Pheromones on the skin will dissipate more quickly. This has its advantages. The effect will be greater due to the higher concentration of pheromones in the air. However, it’s also important to remember that in this case, the pheromones will degrade quite quickly due to skin perspiration and bacterial activity. Placing them on clothing will ensure a longer shelf life, even up to several days, and sometimes even weeks. The disadvantage of placing the product on fabric is the possibility of excessive use over the next few days. We recommend experimenting.

Fromones stimulate the VNO center, located in our noses. Their effect can be compared to the effect of scents on the traditional sense of smell. Therefore, pheromones can influence another person from a distance of up to several meters. However, the greatest effects are felt at a direct distance of approximately one meter.
