Among these compounds were identified, among others: Estratetraenol (estra-1,3,5(10),16-tetraen-3-ol), Androstenol (5α-androst-16-en-3α-ol), Androstenone (5α-androst-16-en-3-one), which is the oxidation product of Androstenol, and Androstadienone (5α-androst-4,16-dien-3-one). The latter is the best-studied olfactory signal from the androstenes group, and its effective action has been confirmed, consisting, among other things, in improving mood in women who inhale it and increasing their sexual arousal.
